This is a great observation. That social platforms were allowed to grow and operate without effective legislation and regulation all but guaranteed that at some point elected officials and policy makers would attempt to use them to govern, with predictably bad effect.
One small but important part of restoration of civil society and government will be putting social media into an enforceable legal and regulatory framework, and ensuring consequences for their misuse by governments, private sector and non-governmental organizations, and individuals.
I agree but I wonder if this behavior also shows how immature these people are, seeking constant praise. They have virtually no experience or expertise so instead of learning about their jobs, they dive head-first into this juvenile behavior. It's going to take a while to reorient the government once they're flushed out.
Interesting that when I went to restack this post, I chose your “cooked the brains” line over the one where you simply state what your aim is in writing this piece. (I need more exercise and less screen time! 😉)
Social media creating this administration’s Potemkin Village - that fits, tracks with everything else they’re doing - manufacture, present the story they want to tell rather than deal with the reality, facts.
Elect a reality show created guy who’s also a convicted felon, populate the administration with various tv show talking heads and here we are.

It’s like a pretend (I guess TV, Hollywood) government where everything is just what you (MAGA) want it to be. Fiction rules.
