Excellent piece; however, I would posit that republicans never cared about governing. They were always about small government, now they’re about “no government”; just contractors who do their bidding for them.
That way, they control the levers of power whether “in or out” of office!
I hate to say it but I loved it. The problem is that the current corruption of "democracry" and governence is that nothing has improved since their systemic lying was exposed in 1971.
